With the NBA season looming right around the corner the Golden State Warriors are picking up where they left off, being involved in the community.
Warriors Forward Jason Thompson will host 80 middle school and high school students this Monday, September 21 for a Lessons in Leadership and Teamwork workshop at the Warriors Practice Facility in downtown Oakland (1011 Broadway). Thompson will participate in the workshop to inspire the youth to take charge of their lives, make good decisions and be successful in their pursuit of education.
The Warriors, in partnership with the NBA’s commitment to My Brother’s Keeper, are supporting education and mentorship in local underserved communities. Organizations participating in the workshop include East Oakland Youth Development Center, African American Male Achievement, Youth UpRising, The Hidden Genius Project, The Unity Council, Youth ALIVE, Brothers on the Rise and Alternatives in Action.
The Warriors will host five events at Bay Area schools during the month of September for the annual Back to School in the Bay initiative to help raise awareness about the importance of education.
